A multi-meter is the most important diagnostic tool you can have when it comes to XJs. Go get one because if you're going to rely on borrowing your neighbor's, you might as well just move into his garage.

X2. Multimeter has saved me alot of work and time. Ebay sells them pretty cheap.

Looks like it was the neutral safety switch ordered a new one

The NSS can sometimes be taken apart and cleaned to get more life out of it. Save yourself some $$$ and clean it before putting new one on
