Are you lifted with blocks or springs? Reason being if blocks u could have a crack in one and when backing it could be binding or possibly a broken rear leaf

Try wiggling your exhaust around. Could be loose and bouncing on something.

Default This could help with you problem.

I kind of have the same problem. I have a all wheel drive... I talked to a transmission mechanic and he explained it like this. you need jack all four tires in the air. run a tape measure around them and write it down if the measurements are off by more than a couple if inches you might have to buy 4 new tires to stop the sound. all thew tires must have the same circumference, Hope this helped

That makes Little sense as to why the tires would be any more than an inch off...??? If they are that far off then either they are two totally different sizes or you have a spare on haha. I don't think tire size has much to do with this problem. Seems like its either a u joint or some stupid bushing

I have a similar repeating "thud" only when backing and I've been told that it is my differential grabbing. Haven"t changed my fluid yet so I can't confirm.
