Default help please ??

Hi all, just joined and first post...need a little help with my 96 Cherokee 4.0l LTD.
I was having some issues with the engine stumbling and backfiring (only sometimes) during acceleration. wagling the throttle usually pushed through.
this became more frequent so yesterday I installed a new TPS. (after a long list of parts I have replaced) It seems to have solved the issue as the motor runs much better but
now the transmission will not change up a gear until it gets to about 4000rpm. I have adjusted the TV cable and it has not made any difference.

I am not sure what to do next. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The trans is using that same tPS signal as the engine management computer is.

Double check your work.

Thank you for your reply. I have already done that. Today (if it stops raining for long enough) i will do it again. In fact i will re-install the old sensor and if that restores the gear shifting i will have to declare the new sensor is faulty and get another. Thanks again. I will report back the result.

i think i can say that the sensor is faulty already. With the two side by side i have tested the movement with a screwdriver and the new one does not spring back all the way to centre like the old one does. I guess the next step is clear now. Thanks again

So it was the new TPS sensor that was faulty? What brand?

Thanks for the update.
