fixed her
Well long story short, replaced the motor with one off e-bay. Supposed 101k miles, mechanic said it all looks good but no way to really know. Was going to try a new crank in mine but if you look close at the video I made you can see the oil is a bit milky, not bad but once we figured that out I decided to cut my losses on that motor. Been working on the paint, body, interior and such getting it where I want it slowly as I still need to fabricate bumpers, purchase tires for my soft 8s and fab a roof rack...its a shame that all that takes money.
My picasa album has all the pictures located here if you care to see the progress to date.

And the crowd cheers! Nailed that sucker in only 183 posts!
If your old motor really had only 80K I sure wish I had it here. (Mine just turned 265K). Glad you got it resolved.

Thanks, I used yellow 3m compound on a red foam pad followed by mequairs #7 polish as I can't wax it yet. If you dealing with oxidation though I have had decent luck with mequairs ultimate compound.and a soft foam.

Yes, won't bother the clear at all. I would try the ultimate compound first from auto zone or advanced auto, right around 10 bucks a bottle. Work it a few times and should look good. Don't use one of them 10in buffer deals, you want to use a polisher if you have one. I got mine years ago from harbor freight and its worked great, will even come with the soft pad you need. Mines orange, but this looks like it only black. http://www.harborfreight.com/7-inch-...der-92623.html can't get the link button to work on phone.
