That doesn't seem very nice of them. I hope that **** rail serves some other purpose other than making something normally easy, harder. Looks like to look at number 3 you need to at least remove that GD. I like the cordless drill for running out a bunch of nuts/bolts. (never go IN without a clutch).
Wonder, can you see that #3 is different?

yup, I just noticed that after you said it. I had my son under the jeep with me and he was videoing while I was holding the light...if you notice he got the thrust bearing several times not meaning to, that made it clearer watching it.
Now...can that be replaced where its at or...
thanks

Alright, this may not be as bad as I thought. Pull the cap, slide new top in place pushing the old out then put bottom on, cap and bolt it all back up...not sure how to set them but that should come..or am I missing some steps?

looking at this picture there a indentation on the right side that locks the bearing from spinning with the crank you will need to push on the other side to see if it will spin out from the block you may have to loosen all the othe mains but its worth a try...do not screatch the crank ...

It's just a tad harder than Legos. You might find is surprisingly unforgiving, but, yea. Once the top one is rotated all the way around so it's on the bottom, mostly just the oil is sticking it on. You will want a new (two piece) rear main seal also.

What would be the reason for a new rear main? Not that I am questioning you, just curious as to why. Replace the oil pump as well right?
