Here's another IR thread.

Ok - big progress

After getting the right search terms into google, turns out that UK XJs do not have a RKE... instead they were fitted with an May Scofield immobiliser at import.

It seems that the immobiliser takes over the RKE duties and the passenger door module? acts as a slave to lock and unlock the doors.

Anyways - unplugged fuse 15, doors don't lock but engine starts and runs

Happy days - going to get a passenger door module off a scrapper now if that's the right way to go?

Found this in a '97 FSM. Sounds like what you are chasing.

I'm going to start a special folder for UK Jeeps. :-)

Ken - changed the PDM but no magic fix - have you got the circuits I could take a look at?, struggling to make head or tail of their description without them. Thanks again,

Greg

Default quick update

Ok - this is where i'm to....

I replaced the PDM with a used item - made no difference, fuse 15 still pushing the CCD up to 10+v. Need to problem solve this - any ideas welcome.

So - fuse 15 is now not in so have no central locking - no major.

Now the immobiliser is doing wierd stuff (this is the UK import May & Scofiled unit);

Starting from a battery off position, when it's hooked up, the car will be immobilised.

If i use the fob to unlock, then it does nothing.

If i move the ign to on, the fob will then deactivate the immobiliser.

Then..... the immobiliser doesn't come back on - at all.... unless i either unplug it or disconnect the battery, car just starts on the key.

So - scratching my head, it would seem the immobiliser takes a permanent feed off fuse 15 to latch / unlatch ?????

Would be great if anyone with a uk XJ was able to see if the their car did the same - does fuse 15 knock the immobiliser out?

Until I get the door circuits sorted I can't test back to back, but that's the route i'm hoping to go.

So what are you expecting? If I pull 15 will the jeep start? Would you guess that the remote fobs stop working?

If you pull 15, does the immobiliser still cut in and out (via the fob) as before, or stay out? - obviously the door locks won't fire as they feed off 15.

Stop the clock......

Finally seems to be fixed....

Stripped out the immobiliser (piggy back harness) - car would crank and run but wouldn't stay running (VTTS shutdown).

Added an ebay RKE generic unit - no effect.

Ordered an PCM from the US (280AC suffix) - recieved, plugged in and..... it runs - so two years in and looks fixed....

So hopefully this is a big moment for any other UK cherokee owners - positive confirmation that you can remove the May & Schofield and replace with an appropriate US PCM
