Help removing an a/c condensor

Help removing an a/c condensor
Before i ask how to remove the condenser, i was wondering is it mandatory to have it in my car. does it serve any other purpose then to give me a/c? I mean i live in Alaska and if it gets hot ill just roll my window down haha. If it isnt mandatory i am just going to take it out and leave it at that! So i dont know how to take it out, the two pipes that are connected to it are pissing me off. Can someone help me on this subject. And all the help this site has given me is so nice. I have only been working on my jeep for two weeks but i have learned a lot! Pictures would be nice too, thanks for all your help!

You didn't state what year your XJ is. Some of the later models use the AC to dry the defroster air before heating it.
