Hesitation and stumble
Hey guys. So i recently broke down and after fixing the problem, something else has arisen. The cam sensor and synchronizer both went at once about a week ago. I replaced both myself and after, the jeep started right up. But after letting it warm up, i went to drive it and as soon as i hit the peddle, it feels like it is gonna die. it stumbles for a split second. Its so quick the tachometer doesnt drop, but you can definitely feel it. But then it goes back to normal and roars to life no problem. I find it only happens once it is warmed up. Before it hits 210 its completely fine. The only thing i could think of is the synchronizer needs to be reindexed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What was the original problem before replacing the cam position sensor? What brand did you get? What do you mean by the synchronizer? The sensor replacement takes just removing the two screws without disturbing the position of the "synchronizer ".

Sorry. Its a 2000 4.0. And the sensor was a dorman. I replaced the sensor but the thing that it sits on. The synchronizer. Was bad too. It ate up the original sensor. So I had to get the whole thing

It sounds like you got a bad cam sensor or your crank sensor is on it's way out. As for the sensor you want to get only OEM sensor. The aftermarket rarely work and are often bad right out of the box.

Underneath all that junk is the distributor dive gear nice and tight still or sloppy?
Don't forget crappy wiring will cause all kinds of headaches.

Also, just noticed that on a cold start up, it will run pretty rough for like 20 seconds then go back to normal. Dont know if that is related or not to the cam sensor

Have you checked it for codes yet? You can also make sure that you have the right fuel pressure. Your 00 should have 49psi +or- 5psi at the fuel rail.
