Default Hey everyone

Hey guys ,

I got burned on a repair and need a new motor. Ive called all the salvage yards around and no one has a 2000 cherokee sport 4.0 L6 and I was wondering if you guys know compatible motors for that. Thank you

no xpert here but i read that they are fussy about exhaust manifolds fitting. the 2000-01 heads have a cracking problem. a used one will be the same.
a rebuilt ia apx 1500, it would fit and have a good head,

2000 or 2001 are the only direct swap. You should try to find a TUPY marked head which don't have the head cracking issue. There are not any factory Cherokee tupy only those that have been swapped by someone.

Or you can convert 99 engines using an exhaust plate adapter, change distributor to the coil pack setup harness etc

98-96 needs intake swapped along with above
96-needs intake power steering and more swapped

Converting pre 00 would be expensive especially if you can't do it yourself.
