HEY! I'm new to ALL of this.
Hey, so yeah, i am new to all of this, got a devorce, i got the 88 cherokee (paid off) he got the 08 Colorado (18k in dept), he thinks he made out good, but i beg to differ. Its got 217k on it and 60k on the motor, clean as a whistle! Anyways it started to grow on me, for example i saw this muddy trail off the high way and decided to take a detour home (never did that before). I go through puddles on purpose, etc. basicly i am loving my new found toy! I am a trained motorcycle tech, and i have worked on cars, but this is soooo new! Sure, i watch Extreame 4x4 (where Jessi is a way better fabricator than ian, GO CHICS!) but i now want to REALLY get into this. I wanna use my cherokee as a daily driver till i can buy this clean clean comanchee down the road, then the cherokee will be my toy and the comanchee will be my daily. So anyways, any suggestions? (i am mechanicly inclinded but dont laugh if i look at you dumb come on i am still learning!) give me a shout!

Congrats on your new found addiction and welcome to Cherokee Forum. Being new I would start slow there is no reason your Cherokee can't stay a DD for now. You want to save for a Comanche. Another good choice for a jeep. What are you looking to accomplish now. At stock you should start looking for tow points. Required at most ORV parks.

The Renix can be diagnosed by using a $4 multimeter and hand tools. More in keeping with the way Jeeps were meant to be fixed, on the trail.
Anything that gives you a problem can be diagnosed and repaired by the owner and you don't need a mechanic in some dealership to tell you what he thinks is wrong because they are not taught how to diagnose without their fancy computers. They are at a loss unless you get a guy who has been around a Renix Jeep (me) to help you find the problem they are a mystery to todays mechanics much the same as a carburated CJ 5 is to them or a Jet is to me.

Renix Jeeps are a group produced from 87-90 and have no on board diagnostics. In other words no port that the newer Jeeps have to plug a scanner or diagnostic computer into.
