I love the way It looks on the bumper, but i use my bumper for bumping haha. trails are tight/ I take trails I shouldn't and I think I would destroy it there. I keep it in the back now but plan to mount it on the basket I installed sunday

What's up with these companies charging for hilift mounts for roof racks like they are made out of gold??? Surco has a mount, that is 4 pieces and 6 bolts for $80??? No thank you, I'll make my own.

I currently live in Michigan, and that state only requires a rear plate. Thus far, I've past hundreds of cops and haven't had any problems. I've even had a cops compliment me on it.

I don't do too much super aggressive wheeling so I'm not worried about too much or any damage there. Furthermore, if I were rear-end some one, say, a Civic, the jack would tear apart to plastic and styrofoam bumper.

Do the cops ever give you a hard time for it "obstructing your view"? Just curious cause I plan to mount mine like that and the cops here ain't too fond of us XJ wheelers.

X2... I missed my rolled & totaled 04 cavalier but my XJ can do anything that little 5-spd 4-banger could do and then some.

Up by me they don't bother the off-road guys with wranglers of ford trucks, but us XJ guys don't get much in the way of slack.
BTW I have my hi-lift tied down behind my rear seat
