High EGT's! HELP!
Hi I had a bad exhaust leak coming from a torn gasket and donut flange that had seperated fell down to near the frame as the nuts holding the bolts came loose! The tech I took it to told me my header (I have a Banks header system on it) was turning a grayish color from getting too hot and my newer cat convertor was also getting too hot. My Exhaust Gas Temps are too high he told me. WHAT can I do and WHAT should I get checked out and tested for this issue?? I work at a diesel repair shop and hear about EGT's often on diesels but not too much on gas engines. Mine is a 1996 4.0 HO, any help is greatly appreciated! (PS I am moving up to Anderson,CA near Redding and have been towing a small trailer filled with stuff for the last several weekends and it has been pretty warm up there

I'm not buying that diagnosis.
