I should add that in all my research I don't think I saw more than one thread mention the IAC O-ring. I see "clean" the IAC all the time. But bad sealing is a big deal, and I think it's wholly possible that the inward pressure against that O-ring with the butterfly closed could pull it just enough to pull in more air. But when the butterfly is open, that inward pressure should be greatly reduced, hence it goes away (I think?). I would definitely recommend someone replace that O-ring before replacing the entire part.
