High idol. NEED HELP!
I posed a thread a few days ago about when i hydrolocked my 4.0 HO in 4 feet of water, and how ever since then it has ran a a REALLY high idol. and i just ran the beast to the store and back and when i stoped at a stop sign on my way home... it was running perfect!!! i was SHOCKED!
but then after i got it home. shut it down, and restarted it the high idol was back... could it be the throttel control sensor??????!!??!???!??????

Hello...
This is a thread I started because of my high idle issues...
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/ext...-issues-34218/
Hope it helps somewhat, considering yours is an '89 as well.
Also...If you hydrolocked your engine...It would be a big'ol paperweight.
You did something else, if its still running.

I just fixed my extremely high idle issue a few weeks ago and it turned out to be a combination of a shot TPS and IAC valve. Also be sure to check all vacuume lines so there are no leaks.

HAHA well ive already found a few lol, and im sure there might be more
but ive checked and i cant find anymore leaks. but its weird, cuz after it runs for like 30 min, then i stop at a red light, or stop sign, and i relize that its running perfect, it makes no sence, but then if i turn it off, and restat it, its back at a high idol. lol
