Check your attitude. You asked a question that is still asked commonly...syn or not.. You may have searched but you obviously didnt do a good job. Here..this wasnt that hard btw.

no problem! well when you have ran dyno oil it builds up sludge more, then syn cleans it all out and take gaskets sometimes with it lol. like a tranny flush at 100k... if you have done regular maint on it, just change the fluid... same thing.
but if it's used to syn I'd stick with that.

Use syn with confidence. No, it won't "wear your engine"...it's superior to dino oil. Although, you didn't say which specific syn you had in mind. There are different types of syn: Group III (highly refined dino), Group IV (PAO), and Group V (ester). Many oils are a blend of different types, so quality varies widely. BTW, I've never seen 15W30 oil.
I am a wholesale distributor for a small blender of high-quality oils/lubes/conditioners, and you can feel free to ask me any oil-related questions if you like. I will certainly answer to the best of my ability, and won't push my brand (which you may have never heard of anyway!). However, I'd advise, as others have, to check the attitude. It doesn't leave a very good "first impression".

Use any brand 10w-30 high mileage regular oil and a NAPA Silver filter or regular Purolator and chane every 3000-4000 miles and your jeep will run great.
I like the Mobil Super High Mileage 10-30 at Walmart it's about $16 for a 5 qt. jug. Anything else is overkill and over thinking it.

Definitely. Really, any SL-, SM-, or SN-rated oil is good. Years ago, oils ranged from bad to good. Now, as long as an oil carries one of these ratings, there's really no such thing as a bad oil. Now, it's more of a "good, better, best" thing.

I always heard that if you start using syn on a high mileage car it will start to leak.If it has been using syn you can keep using it.
BS,'cause I run conventional oil & it leaks.But it is a Jeep.
I do agree that there are ALOT of responses on threads that say "use the search" or "try Google".I understand that the same questions get asked repeatedly. In that case either ignore the thread or provide a link to help them.It would help this site run SO much smoother.
No more butthurt.

My standard advice is "run what your Jeep likes". If it leaks - guess what? You've got a leak! FIX IT!
BTW I've never heard of a synthetic 15W40... conventional sure, blend at 10W40, most synthetic multigrade 40s that people actually purchase are 5W40 and 0W40. Possibly the PO was confused

There are some 15W40 syns out there, but then he was saying 15W30, which I've never heard of, so I'm not sure what he meant.

I send an oil sample from my Titan to Blackstone every 4-6k miles. So far I am at 18k on this coil change with 43% of the oil life left. The oil still looks fairly good. Has a ton of TBN( detergents) left and is still PLENTY vicious. So does synthetic last longer? Yes. I was an avid royal purple user but after 6k miles my was analysis came back that the oil was shot. I run mobil1 extended performance in the jeep and will change it every 10k. As far as the oil filter not holding enough stuff, unless you are running a crap filter that is also un true, to a point. The stuff that gets caught in the filter actually helps filter out more crap. What is a good stopping point to that? When you're told to change the oil by someone. I drag race my truck nearly every weekend and tow very often. I have owned Several vehicles with over 300k miles on the motors. I swap everything I own over to either mobil1 or amsoil if I really like it. Cost me about 75 bucks a year to change the oil in my Titan.

I run 5w-40 Rotella Syn. in mine with 5-6000K change intervals. 20 bucks a gallon on sale. Probably could go longer if I had oil analisis done. Starts well in 0 degree weather. Last week I hit 200K.
I hope to get to 300K.
