Hit a hole in the road and now it will not run?!?!
So I hit a hole in the road and my 95 Cherokee shut off. It still gets power, sounds like it wants to start, but will not. I have switched some relays around, but that didn't work. Checked all fuses to see if any have come loose. Also I cant hear the fuel pump kick on, but all fuses are good. Its a little hard to trace out the wires because it looks like the previous owner had a field day with the wiring
The only thing I found out of place was a 4.8a 12v metal fuse box (relay, circuit breaker??) I have looked this up and it comes back as a windshield wiper part. Any chance the fuel pump is linked into this? Stranger things have happened
Thoughts, suggestions, anything is helpful.

I'd get under there and see what the wires going to the tank look like. I think you should hear the pump for a second when you first turn on the Ign. Also you can depress the little tire type, "Shrader", valve on your fuel rail and see if it shoots fuel out into the rag you are holding there.

Most vehicles have a 'shut-off' switch located somewhere in the vehicle you have to reset after an accident, or even a big bump. I had a fleet of Ford Rangers I was responsible for years, and I found the reset switch's location behind glove compartment. I think it's required by law and has been for a while.[at least since 1995] . If you have an owner's manual look there, or go to internet. Just enter Jeep Cherokee reset switch and see what comes up. You should have to just reset it, if that's the problem. Do that before you start replacing parts and wires, because it's free and is most likely the problem.

It's probably the grumble-funkin. The imagionary "on" switch for the squirrel. Really?!? A "reset" switch? Like my Nintendo had... ;-)
On the serious side...
If the camshaft position sensor {on the trans} get beat/banged, it can slip out of alignment, causing a no-start situation.
If your ignition coil wire comes off, or if the coil takes a hit, same thing.
If the NSS takes a hit... again, no start. Try starting it in neutral, or even {in a SAFE way} drive or reverse.
I'd start by checking battery terminal/connections {and I mean "ALL" electrical connections, one might've jiggled loose, and then, check if there's spark from a plug. Also, if there's fuel pressure to the fuel-rail. These are the "easy" and "cheap" things to check... then get back to us with what you find.
And... if anyone has any info on this "reset" switch... let me know. I'd like to install one on the rear-end of my last marriage.

Oh, and you might even want to check the inside of the distributer cap. Might be corroded all to heck, and shattered connections.

I think the Ford guy is talking about the fuel tank shut-off which was installed to shut off the fuel pump flow in the event of a collision. It's also called an inertia switch. Sometimes they're in the trunk. My mother-in-law got in an accident in her grand marquis and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't run and the AAA guy new where to look.
I think only Fords have them=haven't heard of GM or Chrysler with those.

Gootta' mention, Like GMC says, I once bought a Tempo from a kid that kicked it (on the left side, rear of the window). I found the "reset button", near there under the trunk mat, and BINGO! Such buttons do indeed exist, on an 84 Tempo at least.
I still have the Tempo with the dent. It runs great! True story. Pretty funny if you think about it.
