We got a bit distracted along the way. Thanks for helping me drive my point home.

Telling folks to investigate stuff that's not even on their vehicle....LOL.

Yeah, I too once assumed most newer vehicles had the fuel auto-shutoff impact switch when I learned about it on my '92 Exploder and '99 Ranger that I've had prior to the XJ.

Post# 3! (a "pressure test" of a sort) Colt got me thinking, maybe I'll bolt a bowling ball to my ballast resistor. Then if I crash it should turn off the fuel, also, I could stop and bowl anytime I like!

Well, Cruiser probably made money, the forum probably made money, I've done my part to keep to keep the forum alive and helped people keep their jobs. Why haven't you folks banned me? Because it increases ad revenue. This thread has already generated more viewership than a thread like this should have. Usually actors on TV Talk shows get paid. This is the same thing. This should iginite another 10 or 20 posts. I want my cut.

One more post and another .10 into the kitty. I drove my '95 Cherokee off the showroom floor in 1995, and still own it, along with a new Jeep and a '95 Mustang GT. I just learned long ago not to accept insults from anyone who isn't signing a check pay-able to me. I'll say one more time, ban me , if you think I didn't defend myself against an unwarranted insult by a "moderator".

Default LMAO!!

Who knew?!? I could come here for solid info, some b.s., and a little drama. Gone for a couple days and things get crazy lol

I have pushed in the Schrader valve on the fuel rail and only a very small amount of fuel come out one time. I did this when originally mentioned

I was advised to get a multi meter. After the borrowed one failed, I did buy one. Well worth it. Thank you.

Jeeps don't have that Ford ***** Awesome!!!

It's my fuel pump. I get power to pump, and it (the pump) does not run. My pump WAS loud enough to hear lol ( for the guy who mentioned a nearly inaudible pump)

My problem now is just removing the sending unit... I haven't been able to turn it, or tap it out. (Yes, I'm using brass, not real big on blowing myself up) So getting the pump out is my mission for tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes. In the meantime, if anyone has some tips on this process, please let me know

Yea, pretty sorry eh? I even lowered myself. (rare), but I thought the bowling ball was pretty funny. It's one unit. With the float up in the right place it's possable to gently extract the whole works. Just take it slow, turn it to one side or the other. Wear glasses to keep some of the stuff out of your eyes.
Before install I added some tie wire to be sure the filter screen could not be knocked off.

Here's a question/concern. Besides the lock ring, is there a pin/socket, on the unit/tank, that needs to be aligned on install? To be more clear, inside the tank, there may be say a pin, that might fit into a socket on the pump-gauge assembly. (or maybe the other way around). I mention that because after my first swap I had "goofy gauge". Later I pulled the assembly, plugged in the wires and had someone watch the gauge while I worked the float. Worked fine. After re-install same goofy gauge. (basically it works, but sticks on 1/4 after I get down to 1/2, then drops down from 1/4 like it should).

OH! That ring. Yea, you can't just bash on one ear. You need to move around, it can bind. If it's still on you might want to spray and clean what you can. It rains dirt right in your face doing that. IIRC I used Oak to drive the ring.

This is a funny thread for sure,
You knew the problem was the fuel pump from the beginning,

You even mentioned in ur first post. "Also I cant hear the fuel pump kick on".

Anyways, Real e-z job to do..

I never did one on a jeep cherokee but I have done many and they are not hard to do at all... I would think there would be a video on youtube on how to swap fuel pump..

Ant...

You honestly think we get paid for this or care to? We put our personal time and effort into this forum to help the members with problems and have a good time amongst friends like everyone else. A couple of us got our knowledge and info from years of working on these vehicles, being ASE Techs, Managers or Engineers NOT from Google like some kids do. If we give advice, its because we've been there or fixed similar problems on these vehicles. We know what we're doing so, you'd be wise to either take it or move on. Its that simple. As for trying to tempt us to ban you, 1) Not wise. 2) We have better things to focus on. So if you also think that by keeping you around brings revenue, you are full of yourself and are sadly mistaken.

Some people have their reality set. That's his realty whether he's lonely and just wants attention or he truly believes it. Sadly we can't change peoples reality that they set. Just let them speak their peace so they can slowly fade away into life again.
