Default Homemade rock rails

I was about to start making some homemade rock rails. I don’t have a welder. So, here is my plan.

I bought 2x3 box with 3/16 wall. I was going to drill though the pinch seam and tap directly into the tubing. I was going to put a bolt about every 6 inches. I was hoping this would do until I got a welder to tie it into the frame rail.

Will this hold up for the short term? I figure it’s better than nothing

This will attach it to the body, but the rails will not hold any weight. The pinch rail will just bend, off road they will probably just rip right off if you get it hung up on something.

You could probably drill/fab everything up to the point of welding, then take it to a shop. Do all the prep and hand em' the goods to weld.

yup this is the best way to go it wont cost to much to get them welded up and i would not just bolt to the pinch seam it will not be strong enough if they take a side load it will push them in with the sheet metal that is what the legs that go to the unibody rails help do is spread the load and make them stronger

Thanks for the input. I'll start looking for a welding shop.
