Hood Release and Hood
#16
Saw this This is exactially how i did it on my '93 i had. Just reach up between the fan shroud and the aux fan and feel for the metal rod that runs along the bottom of the hood. Push it side to side and it should release. I had a issue where the release cable came out of the brackets so it didnt do anything
Check to see if your cable worked it's way out of the metal bracket that holds it in place.

You can also have someone push down on the hood while the release is pulled. It may save you the trouble of reaching for it from underneath or dismantling the headlight.

I am probably going to fab some sort of padlock and chain, though, as its pretty easy to get under there and mess with things.

To get mine open on my 01 I took a long rod with a hook at the end and on the passenger side I pulled latch rod to pop that latch open and on the driver side I used long rod without hook and pushed where the rod connects to latch. Might sound confusing but that's how mine got opened.

CF I got it Hood opened: Rolled up under the jeep, pulled the cable rod that runs the width of the hood to the left, hood popped, then I pried opened. Cleaned out the bracket, with lube, then a little silicon. Next on my To Do List...Hood Pins. Thanks CF, You Rock!
