Get email quotes contact the yards and setup shipping..
Of the 2 posted I like the Summit ones the best..those are the ones I am going to get when I get time to do it..so when you do these hood vents post up a writeup on it.. Just remember those two are plastic and designed for double sided tape as I just noticed...

I too would go with option #4 on the hood vents.....I'd also maybe go to a bigger vent, but that might just be me.
And i've always liked Snorkel's on the drivers side.

I voted for Vent location 1... but noticed you didnt have them at the back corners as an option...
As far as the snorkel... the HMMWVs had them on the passenger side and it appears that may be the best side for you as well. You could even add a long tube raising the vent above the top of the XJ.. If you really wanted to go with the HMMWV fording look. I like the idea of having it in that location of the cowl...

Location 3 is where the European cherokees have their vents.
There is only a few spots i can put the vents because of the support bars under the hood. I don't want to cut through those. I am more than likely going to get gen right's square vents or lebaron's if i can find any. I just think these ones are too small.

I voted for location #1, but #4 would do fine also. The key is knowing what the airflow does at what speeds.
I suggest reading through this, if you haven't already.

As far as the snorkel goes, definatley go through the passenger side. I'd imagine a driver side mounted, cowl snorkel would impare your vision slightly.

Found some more. I ordered two of those since they were super cheap. Saw them on a wrangler and looked pretty good. 5x14, larger than the ones i have.

Got the vents. What you guys think of these?
They have large vents but are sunk in style so they don't pop out of the hood as much, which is neat. Much larger than my originals.

Make sure you check hood clearance before shutting it.
Hate to have you screw up the hood if the vent hits the throttle body or valve cover when you shut it.
Looks good otherwise.

BTW I am going with location 1 using lebaron vents.
Purpose of the vent is to let out heat. Heat will be pushed to the back side of the motor by the firewall via incoming air from the radiator fans etc.

OK Logic here.
If your putting in vents..you most likely want to maximize your air flow out of them. By putting pans under them, it somewhat prevents heat from escaping.
The motor is basically sealed up given oil and coolant stays IN the motor. Sensors are made to with stand heat, cold, rain, snow, splashing etc.
And a Jeep is made for offroading, mud, rocks etc.
Wouldn't you draw a logical conclusion that it can handle it if it rains? At least that was my take on it. I don't plan on any pans for mine unless I see something that needs covering. In which case, I plan to cover that connector rather than using a pan which would restrict air flow.
Just my thoughts...Open to discussion as its just an opinion.
