Hood Vent and Snorkel Project

OK Logic here.
If your putting in vents..you most likely want to maximize your air flow out of them. By putting pans under them, it somewhat prevents heat from escaping.
The motor is basically sealed up given oil and coolant stays IN the motor. Sensors are made to with stand heat, cold, rain, snow, splashing etc.
And a Jeep is made for offroading, mud, rocks etc.
Wouldn't you draw a logical conclusion that it can handle it if it rains? At least that was my take on it. I don't plan on any pans for mine unless I see something that needs covering. In which case, I plan to cover that connector rather than using a pan which would restrict air flow.
Just my thoughts...Open to discussion as its just an opinion.

Side note...I do head porting so flow is important to me.
IF your doing the drip pans, might I suggest you leave the open area toward the front of the motor rather than the rear. That way as air comes IN through the radiator, it can travel past the motor and UP through the pan/vent to exit. Figuring your putting an angle on it in some fashion.
I have the lebaron vents which seem to have smaller openings. I plan to go without pans. IF an electrical problem comes up, I will seal up that connection/all of them.
(My thoughts about my jeep)...Kinda stupid to have a snorkel and worry about getting wet. Whole purpose of snorkel is to sink, go swimming, pretend your a sub, come out other side to faces of surprise and awe.

Vent are done
I got em done My girlfriend was there to help make things go faster and give me some advice on location of the vents. I took the poll into consideration with the new vents and changed it slightly but it came out alright.
We started off by removing the hood. I wasn't gonna be reaching over and cutting uneven lines so i took it off. Then we use masking tape to tape over the area to be cut to minimize the paint damage.
Out came the cutting wheel, sparks went flying, and i ended up with a big hole:
Dang cut off wheel cracked so i switched to another used disc cuz that's all i had:
Now i got two holes:

Fixing the 7 incher's mistakes:

After the cutting was done, i asked my gf to put the vents in, hoping they fit right and i didn't have to cry for overcutting. They fit perfect:
After that it was painting up the cuts so my hood isn't a big chunk of rust tomorrow:
At last, the little baby stainless steel screws were inserted into the freshly drilled holes:
All Done:
I used silicone sealant on the inner side of the vent lip to seal it up. Didn't really need it but used it anyways. I almost installed one vent in backwards but luckily caught myself before installing it.
My girl and i put the hood back on and went out to eat somewhere. I stopped at a stop sign and was staring at a bumper of a car in front of me and for a second it felt like i was hallucinating or something because my vision became blurry and wavy but then realized it was the heat wave coming out of the vents. I guess they work

I will get some more pictures today.
The passenger side vent is right over the opening in the engine bay so only the oil filter may get wet. The driver's side is right next to the tb and a little above the injectors. I am going to make a drip pan that hooks onto the motor covering the injectors so it runs off behind them. it shouldn't be a problem anyways but i wanna be safe than sorry
