i went for a decent trip last weekend and was sweating for 3 hours! on the way back i took the hose that leads to the vent under the steering wheel and had it blowing right on my leg. that sure helped a lot!

The trans and exhaust are what cause it to be so hot. There is no type of heat sheild or spray on protective coating , it is just metal so adding something like dynomat will help. Mine has an aftermaret trans cooler which helps a little.

dynamat would be nice, probably work pretty good, but you'd have to put it up underneath, overtop of the tranny. if you wheel wet trails, i think it would just get soaked with mud and water and eventually rust out the floor.
could put it on the inside, but i run without carpet, so not only would it get damaged and look unpleasant, but i've been known to drown out the interior of my jeep the odd time also.
i'm not too worried about the heat of the tranny, really. just want to keep the interior temps down. considering i disconnected the a/c for want of oba, the interior now gets way too damn hot.
i've thought about installing an electric fan overhead with a hole in the roof and cover it with an air scoop and remove the rear windows and make a frame and screen inserts to help.
up here, our heat isn't as dry, therefor our 32 degrees feels more like 40. it's not so bad if it's only around 25 or so.

Heated middle console
I have a 94 5spd and the first summer I got it I had no problem with heat but now this summer after an hour the brake is almost too hot to touch and the middle console is like a heater, which really sucks when its 80degrees outside

Frost King duct insulation can be found at Home Depot and Lowes, about $20 a roll or something.
I used 2 rolls to cover the front driver + passenger compartment, and another roll to do the rest of the floors (extra focus on the trans tunnel, and anywhere that the exhaust runs underneath).
Went from about 140*F to 100*F above the trans tunnel

My vehicle has been upgraded w/ Dynamat Xtreme, UltraTouch Radiant Barrier Denim Insulation, UltraTouch Denim Insulation and Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV).
The result is the vehicle sound and thermal characteristics are both superior to before the upgrade. The center hump temperature is not hot at all during operation.
The factory places MLV against the firewall. My new MLV is bonded to that existing layer.

Gets very hot without carpet. I think it's Lizard Skin that makes a spray on product that's like undercoating but also insulating.

I have my carpet up currently laying down some sound deadener and cleaning the carpet. With 3-4 layers of Noico 50mil my tunnel gets about 105 degrees. I had some uxcell insulation mat that I put a layer over that and it only gets to 86 degrees. I was surprised the difference in that. If you don't want to spend money on sound deadener, the insulation mat is also from Amazon but was $27.99 for 60" x 40", which is more than plenty for the tunnel.
I gace some denim insulation on the way to replace my carpet padding like wingless, which I'm sure will drop the temps the center console will see.
