You can add front spacers but try to stay away from blocks in the back since they have a tendency to make your leaf springs look like a "W" after some time. You would be better off getting a shackle kit from Autozone for $29. The Ford F150 rear shackle kit works for a XJ but you may have to do some grinding on the shackle a bit to make it fit...I picked up 2 inch coil spacers on eBay for $14 and the shackle for $29. Just check eBay and Craigslist for parts in your area...Tj

Dont skackles in the rear make your leaf springs bend weird too though just because they end up rotating the back of the leaf spring down. This makes puts pressure on different spots on your leaf springs therefore bending them in a very odd way. IMO blocks would be better because it would keep the pressure in the same spots as it was before. In theory wouldnt the leaf spring bend in a W shape anyway. Again I think blocks would be better because your not changing the angle unlike shackles.

I only want about an inch or so just to clear my flares my fenders are trimmed and the flares are mounted a little higher than stock plus they are trimmed a little also i was thinkin of usein like a half inch piece of steel any idea on that for the rear and try some small spacer on the front just wondered if that would work good and not bother the suspension

The ford shackles have a few holes in them so you can go 1, 1.5 or 2 inches in lift to match the front...Tj

Yoiu can add a one inch spacer block without any problem. I have done it for some time. You can make them out of two 2.5X4X1/2" plates drilled and with a center bolt all the way through. You can add a couple of stock rubber spacers from the XJ coils from the wrecking yard.

I wouldn't recommend going over 1" on the blocks though

When you do this, check your shocks to see that the suspension doesn't bump them too hard when it extends. You can knock a piston off the end of the rods.
