How can I turn off the overhead lamp in my 98 cherokee when the door is open?

There is no way without a seperate switch or removing the bulb.

unplug things behind the kick panel until they go off


seriously, theres a little connector under there you can just unplug

Can you do this?

Use the correct size box-end wrench to unscrew the dome light button on the body near the door hinges, and unplug the unit.



In my '95 I just ripped them out completely.

Maybe I misread his intention. I thought he wanted them to be selectable. On when he wanted them to come on with the door and off when he didn't. That is why I suggested a switch.

ON the 87 i have a Dome fuse I pull it when I am working on the truck for extended periods of time.
