How do i get these clamps off

Agreed! I know they can be a pain to remove, but they do work better that screw type clamps.

I went ahead and chalked it up and grabbed some channel locks got the hoses off the heater core and finally bypassed where my control valve used to be

was wondering why the screw clamps needed re-tightened after a shop cooling job, got leaky quick on new hoses
both jeeps I had worked on .. had to tighten the rad hoses, big leaks .. but not the pressure clamps .. may be swapping those .. good info

I dont use the cheap worm gear kind, i use these style. Never had to retighten one in my life.
they apply equal pressure in a full 360 degree circle and are used on high pressure (direct injection, etc.) applications so they should hod up to a few psi in a cooling system.. Fastenal carries em. I find it to be easier to get a screwdriver in tight spots than it is to get a "specialty tool" in these areas.

I've seen that style clamp in use on aircraft.
