Default How to get center caps off

Does any one know how to get the center caps off the stock rims from 1998 rims?

remove the lug nuts....


might have to pop the wheel off and give it a tap from the inside if its got tabs to hold it in place

pull lugs off, pull wheel off, 3 small screws bolt them to the stock wheels from the back side of the wheel. then they literally fall off.

It basically depends on WHICH stock rims you are referring to.

The stock ALLOY rims with the small center "plug-style" cap require wheel removal. Then a slight tap from the backside to pop the center out.


Stock STEEL rims with the large cap that encircles the lugs require wheel removal. Then 3 small (IIRC 7/32" head) sheet metal screws need to be undone.

If you don't want to go to all the trouble of jacking the Jeep and removing/reinstalling the wheels one by one just to unbolt the center caps....

Just get you a big ole screwdriver or prybar and bust those puppies off of there!

Easy, cheap, fast, and minimal sweat.

For the ones on stealies, I find you just need to go wheeling in mud and they fall off. I guess you could pull the wheel and remove the bolts/screws, but wheres the fun in that?
