How Important Are Mopar Sensors?
First let me say that I agree with the general consensus of using Mopar Sensors.
When I had to replace the CPS in my '00 I did not consider anything but a Mopar one.
Too many bad out of the box threads concerning aftermarket parts on that one. LOL.
I picked up a bored throttle body from XJwonders when he closed up shop.
Was thinking instead of pulling off the sensors from my original TB and swapping them to the new TB buy new ones.
Using Mopar ones gets pricey though.
I am also thinking when it comes to the TPS use a Mopar one.
Don't cheap out on that one.
But what about the Map Sensor and IAC?
So I figured I would ask and see what you guys think.
To be frank with you I will probably just end up biting the bullet and spend the money.
But still curious.

Seems to be a gamble. you can roll the dice on cheaper sensors, but sucks to end up having to buy the MOPAR anyway. I've had some good luck with the TB sensors from NGK or Standard, but wasted money on non mopar oil pressure senders and such. If you have the money, go MOPAR obviously. But, you do what you have to. Either way, If you want new sensors just because, I'd start with your known good ones, and swap the new on one at a time. Don't forget to reset the computer.
Good luck

And you are not the first person to say this.
I have not. The original, assumed it was a Mopar one, went bad.
I replaced it about 3 maybe 4 years ago with the Echlin one from Napa.
So far so good.
And to test it decided to check my oil pressure with a mechanical gauge since I had to remove it anyway.
But instead of using the mechanical first and then putting in the new sensor I plumbed in some fittings.
So I could use the mechanical gauge and the one in the cluster at the same time.
At a very hot idle and it pretty much read the same as the cluster.
So I am curious what experiences other guys have had with aftermarket map sensors and IAC's.

Since the merger of NGK/NTK and Wells Vehicle Electronics we can now get OEM Mopar sensors under the WVE brand. NGK/NTK was the OE manufacturer. If you buy a Mopar, an NTK and a WVE Map sensor, you will see that they all are the exact same. The WVE will always be a few $ cheaper. Wells is an American Company too, so it really solves a lot of sensor issues for us. I'm sure the sensors aren't being manufactured in the US, they are probably being made in Japan in NTK's facility.

Just installed a new Mopar TPS and Standard Motor IAC and MAP -- everything is working good so far. Of course, it hasn't been very much time. The idle really smoothed out after replacing the previous IAC which looked pretty old and covered in soot. I've had good luck in the past with Mopar, Standard and Echlin sensors. I've had bad times with Oreilly or Autozone sensors.

Did the Standard IAC come with a new bolts and an O Ring?

Have Standard IAC, MAP and TPS in mine, the first two for 2 years, the last one for 6 months. So far so good. I know I should not go cheap on the TPS, but had to put one in that day, and could not find a Mopar one here in town. Thought of replacing the TPS with Mopar later, then checked the prices, the Standard one is just a few bucks cheaper than Mopar, I wonder if they are actually using the proper magnet. So I am rolling the dice, we'll see if I regret it in the future.

Part of the thing is that these are easier to replace. A CPS while not difficult can be a little awkward.
Not so much with throttle body sensors. So there is that.
Same question I asked the other guy and more now.
Did your Standard IAC and TPS come with new bolts?

Sorry, I guess I am not awake yet. Yes, those three sensors (TPS, MAP and IAC) are Standard, and have all been in for 2 years. I also have a Standard CPS, has been in the car for 6 months, that is the one I needed to replace that same day, and the one where I am hoping the right magnet is used.

I purchased and installed a Standard IAC awhile ago and I don't believe anything came in the box other than the IAC itself. Although it was a while ago it's only been on for maybe 500 miles.

Big fan of new hardware whenever possible.
Sometimes you have to take the little things, like bolts/no bolts, into consideration.

I am going to poke around on pricing of Standard parts online. Also see what the Echlin/CRB line parts would cost at my store. I work at a Napa so.......
Also poke around about the Wells/WVE sensors that Randy mentioned.
If we are talking half the price of Mopar parts I might use them.
Except for probably the TPS. Pretty sure I am going to stick with Mopar on that.
This is just ground work for a project that will get done some year.
And I literally mean some year. LOL.
