hey guys, new to the thread. senior in high school, got myself a black 2000 jeep cherokee sport 4.0..thing is a tank..once lacrosse season is over, looking to do some fun things to it. anyone know or see a thread around here that gives you directions to make the doors removable? thanks!

 

two ways Ive done it, either just take out the 6 factory star screws or take out the pin in between the hinges to make them removable quickly. taking the factory screws out is a pain to deal with getting them back but taking the pins out is no joke either. After alot of work, i can get mine off in about 5 minutes now since i have a removable pin.

 

Open the door. You should be able to tell what the hinges looks like. There's 2 per side one top and one bottom. There's a pin that goes down the middle of them you need to cut those pins in half. Pop them out and go to ur hardware store and find some bolts that fit. If i get the right bolts the door shouldn't sag at all. Once u remove them it's not going to be a water tight seal anymore so be prepared for a little bit of water to seep thru every now and then.

 

what about all the electrical? is it just a quick disconnect type thing or do i need to cut all types of wires?

 

I should do a write up on this because I have a good idea that should work.

 

if i where you i woulnt try to do it.....its a major pain in the *** but if u do,there are alreddy quick releses for the wiring there behdind the plastics where ur hood pop is and on the passenger side behind the fuze pannel plastics
