How many amps is a 98 cherokee xj stock alternator. Ive got 2 subs and running about 5,000 watts or amps of power. Is my stock alternator enough to power everything.

136amp peak.

Doubt you have 5000 watts. What sub/amp are you running

Isn't that only 2000 watts then?

^Less.

Ok, what type of audio pipe drivers and what brand and series amps.

This way i can tell you exactly what is needed or if it could handle the power output.

And pick one, are you running 2 or 4 drivers

I thought that was the rating on the GC? Isn't the Cherokee more like an 80amp unit?

Peak is not actual, there is some stupid equation, it comes out to about 90 true amps.

i would upgrade your alt to be honest. i run 2 bridged 10" Rockford's off a 250.2 RF amp.(which its spec sheet showed it to produce 302 watts). and then i run a RF 600.4 amp(which spec sheet said like 674 watts) to run my Diamond Audio Hex series components and at night (so head lights on) during hard hits it drops my volt gauge down to 12(aftermarket gauge). you can watch it twitch with each hit.... So i am running about 1000 watts combined power with everything and i have gone thru 2 alternators already (JY replacements)... Altho mine are comp level subs and components too

The fosgate 250x2 your getting about 175wrms a channel, the 600x4 about 90 a channel. About 700wrms total. Thats about a basic system, comp and spl is a little more rediculous than that.

It is not how many watts you are running. It is how efficient . My set up hit 129 db's at 50 feet which is pretty good considering how "under powered" i am

129 thats pretty good for what your running, do you know your efficiency rate? Average impedance load?

You guys are making me jealous. All I have are crappy '93 stock speakers with a Clarion CD-player that doesn't play CDs and only gets one station.

i did, i can still look it up for you. i have my spec sheets around somewhere. Rockford Fosgate did an event in their parking lot one day and i went to see what was up. i ended up entering the 0-600 class and placed 5th. winner ran a 149.1.... and pro 0-600 ran a 148.5

It is nice having both Diamond audio AND rockford fosgate about 20 minutes away!!! (when i am in AZ)

That would actually be sweet, I gotta dig up my sheets, I peaked a 151db last summer at SPL NY, Steve meade designs was there too and beat the crap out of any diy.

My system took me three years, two career switches and countless hours to set it up the way I want it. Give it time
