Do you have to drain the oil before removing the oil filter adapter?

x2, you will only loose whats sitting in the adapter. the rest of the oil will be in the pan. since youll have the filter off any way go ahead and change it and the oil also. only looking at a few buck more and you kill two birds with one stone.
