I have one in the front. You don't even know its there till you use 4x4.
Awsome traction off road no slipping or anything.

They work great, had one in the rear of my xj with 35s, only noticed it on the street when making fast uturns one tire would slip. Offroad it helped a ton and worked flawlessly I would definitely recommend, and you can't beat the price

No experience with the PowerTrax LockRite but have installed 4 PowerTrax NoSlip lockers in various vehicles including our '98 XJ. Very satisfied. Even with one wheel in the air, the other is diggin' in.

I ran one in the rear of my 89 XJ for a long time. I ran it with 33's and 35's and wheeled Moab a coule times a year. The locker worked great for the most part. I did manage to break it once, but I lied mt a$$ off and told the place I got it from that I only had 31's on my jeep and they replaced it for me free of charge. The only time I didn't like it was driving on snow packed roads, it was a little scary. As for tire wear, I got 50K out of my 33" BFG A/T's with the locker.

How was it scary on snow packed roads? What kind of things did it tend to do in the snow?

A locker is no different than any other traction enhanced diff, if both wheels break loose (too heavy right foot for the road conditions), the rear of the vehicle will tend to fish tail.

Only problem I had with them is the springs wearing out after about a year and a half and it unloaded on side hills. Replaced the springs for 25 bucks and it was like new again.

I think I'd like to know more about drivability with the powertrax, especailly in the front axle. I'm considering putting one in the front but I do use 4wd while on snowy roads.

If you use 4wd on the street you need a selectable locker like an ARB or E-Locker. An automatic locker like the Lockright or Detroit will cause steering problems on paved roads and on snow and ice could cause you not to be able to steer. With the selectable type you can keep it turned off and it will act like an open diff.

I should clarify I only had the locker in rear. If the tires brake loose at all you loose all lateral traction. You start sliding sideways on the road. I noticed that it did this really bad with snow 3" or less on the road. The locker will also stay locked most of the time when you try and make a sharp turn, like turning left or right off the highway and tend to want to push the Jeep straight forward even with the wheels turned (on snow packed roads). Would I put a full time locker in the rear of DD XJ again and drive it on snow packed road? You bet I would. It just takes some getting use to. Now when the snow is deep, the locker is awesome!

This is just my 2 cents here, but I would never, never, never, never, never, never, never ever put a full time locker in the front axle only of any 4X4 and leave the rear open or just a limited slip in the rear of a 4X4 that will see much street use. You are asking for trouble in my opinion. If you are going to lock only one axle please lock the rear.
