Default How to wire an amp to the 01' stock radio

Okay so in a few days I will be receiving my 12' sub-woofers (1200watt) and 1200 watt 2 channel amp, now, I understand how to wire everything...but only using an after-market stereo, not the stock, and I won't be changing the stereo deck for about a month, in this time I would like to configure my amp to work with my stock factory stereo. Any suggestions?

Thanks

they sell a box that you can splice into your rear speakers that will give you RCA connections back there. It also steps down watts down to output levels. I think best buy sells them and sometimes wal-mart but i don't remember the name for them.

^^X2 splice rcas into rear wire.

Its not gonna be that great thought, its better to get an aftermarket head with a SUB. Everyone that i know that spices the rear ends up getting a headunit after a couple weeks.

You'd have to get an adapter to turn speaker level signal into line level output (1Vpp). Check the web. With this info you should find what you need.

All the money spend on converters and HP LP filters, might as well wait a little and get the head unit....

wow, lots of advice!, but yea, i dont have the money to get a good head unit for like 2 weeks, :/ and yea my friends all have them like you said. One of them said it sounds a ton better because of his new head unit. So, I guess we can never have it all when we want it now can we, but yea I'll probably get the converter thing. Its just the specifics like which wires I need to use and what-not. Then again I could just have a not hooked up 2 12' subs and an amp in the back of my car for two weeks and be like, look i have subs!

Get an amp with speaker level inputs. Mine is set up that way, works fine, and my stereo in my room is also set up that way and its worked and sounded great for a year and a half.

Filters are built into the amps.

LOCs cause distortion, hence why aftermarket HUs sound much better.

Yeah, thats sort of the problem, I'm pretty sure its the same wiring as the 99' and the 2000 version, but i have the 01' 60th anniversary edition.

A new head unit is well worth it. Welcome to the forum.

I've been working on the subs for a total of 13 hours and the only problem is the smallest most simplest part of it all, the remote wire that tells the amp turn on isn't getting a signal, but I don't know this for sure, its just the amp doesn't turn on, the power is connected, could my ground not be strong enough or something?

SUBS= LUNGS
AMP= HEART
HEAD UNIT= BRAINS

you really dont want to give a retard steroids... it just doesn't work...
in other words, if your head unit is stock, your really selling yourself short... i spent 65 a piece on my 10" clarions and like 300 on a matched 320W clarion amp... there was a period when i was cycling thru head units trying to find the right one, and diff. units really give you a diff. bass frequency. the more you spend, the more you get... within reason. go pioneer for head unit.
