Default Huntin season is coming. Will she do it?

So, hunting season is coming up, and this will be my first time rolling out in the XJ to meet up with my buds. We hunt in the local national forest, where there are cut trails that run out into the woods. My question is this:

My '91 XJ has it's fair shair of noises and such, burns a little oil, but still runs I-81 at 75+ mph with no issues. She never sputters or stalls, and the AW4 shifts great. The last time I used 4wd was winter, and it did great; no bucking or noises. So, should the ol' girl be find to use out on these mild trails? Also, and laugh if you want, if I get a kill, how would I go about getting it home with my XJ?

Thanks everyone.

Lol, agreed. The way I see it, an XJ with no noise has something wrong with it.

do you have a spare tire carrier? we've thrown a few deer on there before. I'd say take it, but bring some tools cuz you never know.

Get a roof rack. If you're worried about the cost go for a Rola or something along the lines of that. I've had two bucks hauled on mine, stacked 'em together.

Get a hitch mount cargo rack fits a buck perfectly!! Or if you dont have a hitch put a tarp down like was said earlier. I have always used the cargo rack attached to the hitch and it works like a charm

An XJ is perfect for deer hunting. I can't think of a better vehicle. Big enough to sleep in, small enough to negotiate fire trails in the UP (that's the Upper Peninsula - AKA "Eden"), cheap to run, small turning circle. Perfect.

Very nice rack for $180 - very nice. How does this mount on the roof rack - on the rails or what??

Been hunting Elk for years in my XJ's, always end up dicing it up and throw it in back. Last year was the first time we had one within a 1/2 mile of a road. Still diced it up.

putting it on the roof is a great idea until you try it. a limp floppy carcass doesnt like getting hoisted up there. its pain enough putting it in the hatch after youve dragged it, and been hiking all day. i just have a roll of 6 mil poly in the back that we spread out. then once the deers in there just pile all your stuff on top of it. definately dont take more than 2 people hunting in it though. one will have to spoon with the deer on the way home if you take 3 guys
