could be an extra load on the motor... but I'm trying not to drive it till it's all sorted out.

Got the motor oil changed and drained the trans- just 2.5Qts came out, so I replaced that with new ATF.

Is there a way to test the vacuum lines for leaks? they look great.. would water or some sort of sprayed fluid help to find the vacuum leak?

I took out that annoying Sony radio and replaced it with a stock 98 grand cherokee radio CD and Cassette. $21 at the pull a part.

You could just take a picture of your rear diff and post it.

For finding a vacuum leak, most of the time you can just listen for them.

Or grab a can of WD40, with your engine running, and spray around your vacuum lines and intake manifold. The engine will bog down a bit, there's your leak.

It's the Chrysler 8.25 (flat bottom), this much I know. But since there is a factory tow package(I was told) I hear somewhere that the rear would have the LSD and 3.55.
Just trying to find out without opening it up. that will be next week lol (for a fluid change).

Couldn't tell you from that little tag. Bet you could poke a hole through the back of your muffler with your finger though lol.

actually I hit the muffler with a hammer in several places and it was rock solid... I couldn't believe it!

Well, if you wanna know exactly what it has, you can always go to the dealership with your VIN and request a build sheet... should be free too. That way you'll know for certain if it's LSD and what the gearing is unless someone happened to change it along the way somewhere... judging by the cherry condition it is in, I would say I doubt it...

That oil is bad for cold starts where 90% engine wear happens until normal operating temp.

Try a thinner oil 5w-20 or 0w-30 or 0w-20 even. At the very least if you want to go by OEM specs go with 5w-30.

Your engine will thank you.

you can send your stuff into this and they'll send you your stock specs back. (along with the gearing) which is what basslicks was talking about, but without going into the dealership

Those are too thin for a 4.0 with over 100k on it. The tolerences on a 4.0 are not nearly as tight as anything built in the last ten years, 10w-40 will work just fine.
