sweet! thanks odgreen for confirming. Going to save a lot of money and time on the rear axle now that i know that it would be strong enough. the bolt on is an added benefit, almost like a cherry on top! now to see if there are rear disk conversions for them, off to quadretec i go!

Make that 97+. Not 96.

Google "ZJ disc conversion".

YES all day long and some very tough ones where you have to winch yourself out of due to very high washed out creek banks. This is how mine is used most of the time and trails we run.

I'll just go ahead and say that for the extra 40$ of mounts for the 8.8 swap, I'd much rather have the 31 spline shafts while running 35s. But then again I'd rather be over built then under

Thanks Hudson, I honestly have not even gotten that far in my build. Just looking forward to after I reach the whole "reliable" part of my xj. Thanks for the heads up on the conversion too, will def be looking into it!

This is very good news! I was thinking I was going to have to reweld mounts and perches to an 8.8 or 9.0 or get an axle built when I get to that part of my build. It is crazy how much weight this little piece of knowledge lifted off my build plans. I have been really babying the d35 that is back there now because the wife would kill me if i broke it and the axle i wanted was going to be 1k+ to get it running again. Now im looking at $300 for limited slip and an afternoon to put it in! Sweet!

These and other useful diagrams I keep saved on my phone to an album called jeep diagrams. Especially comes in handy when junkyard hunting.

Also grab the rear shaft while you at it.
