I got my S10 springs and.......
So I got some s10 springs from a buddy who's building a prerunner and was gonna scrap them. They are in good shape from a 93 4wd v6 crewcab s10. Everything I have read says cut the eyes and shuffle with my pack and presto, 3-5 inches of lift. Great!!!!!!
Why? Why not just bolt them up? Whats the dimensions on the s10 spring? I can't find it anywhere to compare it to the XJ spring. Yeah, I know I have them both to measure but I thought it would be something easy to find on the old Net. Is there a way to bolt them up and use an extended shackle?
And finally the most important questions how do I get that perfect 45 degree rear shackle with my soon to be new s10 rear leaf?
Thank you.......

All good questions, but you can't. The reason in that the main leaf on the S10 is not the same dimensions as the XJ. So you use the S10 leaves underneath, which are close in measurements. It is the main leaf that locates the axle, while the S10 leaves support the XJ. You might think it might be easier if you could just bolt the whole thing in, but in reality it is easier to disassemble the XJ spring without removing the main leaf.

Why do you need 45 degrees. What you really need is less than that. With these springs it will be closer to straight up and down, which is good. That is 30% less force on the bushing than 45 degrees.

with the dodge van springs you will get the angle you want but you need an longer shackle like the rough country one and the s10 leafs are not the right lenght from center to eye so you need to cut the eye off and use the xj main to keep the rear in the right location and centered in the well.
