Default i have a badd stalling issue 96 2wd auto

idk what happened its been running fine, i drove it to walmart tonight ran fine all the way there, then on the way back it just decided to shut off when i was sitting at a red light, so i put it in neutral and it fired right up but i had to be on the gas a little then it would idle like crap but i drove it..

next red light its idling perfect at 700-800 rpms no problems, take off start driving let off the gas to start slowing down for the next light and it dies again... wtf? put it in neutral start it again i had to push the gas pedal down a little for it to start...

it died on me like 9 times tonight, i was taking a 25mph turn off the gas and it died halfway through the turn, i put it in neutral and it started back up again...

could it be my cps going out? its weird because everytime it dies, it fires right back up as long as i push the gas pedal a little

it wasnt overheating or anything and it always fired right back up... im still new to owning my first jeep so i have been searching on how to fix it looks like im going to take a look at the iac as well tomorrow

damn i paid 80 dollars today for a ckp, took it driving it went about 14 miles then i came up to a light and it died.....

i kept driving it and it kept wanting to die but if i held the brake and barely hit the gas pedal it would stay running....

here is my list of stuff i did when i first bought the jeep because the oil was dirty and there was water in the radiator and it was getting hot.....

oil change
radiator
radiator cap
water pump
thermostat
fan clutch
replaced missing fan shroud
cap
rotor
wires
plugs

sea foam (3 days ago)
ckp (today)

idk what else i can do, maybe the iac is taking a dump when the car gets to temperature, idk it doesnt do it all the time, i have to drive it for a little bit, seems like anything over 5 miles and it does it constantly then sometimes it clears itself up after a few miles but i have to keep on the gas pedal a little bit or it will die

when i did the sea foam and i was putting it through the throttle body i could hear the iac kicking up the idle when i put a little too much sea foam in ...

could it be possibly the cat converter when it gets hot idk, ive been working on cars for a long time, but mostly honda's and when something goes wrong theres a check engine light to go along with it lol but idk i am stumped ill take apart the iac tomorrow and clean it see if it helps

Hit a local auto parts store and ask them to pull codes.. they will do it free.

Do you have eratic fuel pressure. I lost the in tank pump, ran erraticly for about an hour, stalling out, then refireing, then repeat. Pump was on and off with every other bump. Pump finally had full failure. Electric fuel pump failures are a very very common cause of 80% towed in failures.

I don't think its the fuel pump because when it dies I can restart it as long as I touch the gas a little and it will keep tunnelng as long as I'm on the gas a little ..... if I left off the gas it will die over and over again until I hit the gas then it will run

It doesn't do it all the time only when I've driving for a while but like said when it starta acting up if I hold the gas it will stay running but as soon as I let off it will die

Have you checked the TPS, how long since the O2 sensor was replaced?

96blackxj - With same issues and same year jeep, just finished replacing my IAC (idle Air Control) module. On the left side of your throttle body, two screws (dont pull the whole thing *base has 4 screws* like I did, ended up having to make a gasket for nothing) ordered from Pep boys, $38.00. Got rid of knocking, poor gas mileage, inconsistant idle on deacceleration, stalling at stop signs, etc.
