Default I have a lifter tick

I have a 2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4.0L I just got it 4 days ago and I just start to know that it was doing it anything I can do to make it stop

very light icking could be injector ticking ,first thing i would do seeing how you just bought it would be a oil change with recomendecd oil and good filter

ssshhh, now everybody will want a noisy 4.0!

The 4.0 inline six is kind of a noisy engine, but it will run for ever. As long as you have oil pressure and the temperature stays within the normal range, you can expect 300k miles out of the engine easy.

It's not all that light but some times it is. I just got it from my work (Sapaugh in mo) and they did the oil but thx

Mine sounds like a sewing machine in a sweat shop, but it performs flawlessly.

theydo make addative for lifter tick never used it jm2cw

My gc used to tick real bad until I replaced the tsat that was stuck open and it hasn't ticked since. Does it heat up ok? I'm kind of a newbie so just a thought, bit mine used to bug the crap out of me. Hope you figure it out.

Tstat** my bad. Probably not the problem if it heats good. I have no idea why, but when I replaced my bad tstat it quit ticking and hasn't done it since. Good luck

ha never heard that version before. Yes these engines are noisy, lifter noise is fairly normal and mine sounds like a diesel when it's running and actually starts dieseling when it shuts down... great fun next to a 12 valve cummins guy.
