Ok so my cherokee used to be a sheriff rig so they do alot of electrical stuff to them, like i just noticed that when i hit the brakes that the parking lights come on along with the dash lights, well i spent some time under the dash today and found out where they were messing with the brake swith under there, so i un did the splice and then the lights turned off and everything was normal except then the brake lights didnt work, and when i turned on my lights the tail lights were bright like when you hit the brake, so i hooked the splice back up and then the brake lights worked fine but there still is the same problem with the parking and dash lights, oh and my full time light comes on now, but the part time dont. any ideas??

I'm not sure if you're dealing with a hot wire or ground here. What I would do is disconnect that wire that you did before that made everything work right but the brake lights. Now, connect that wire to a good ground and try the brake lights. If you get nothing then find a good (ignition switched) 12 volt power source and connect it to that and try the brake lights. One of those 2 methods should get your brake lights working again. Then all should be good.

I think it is some jurry riggin they do with the light bar control but, they pull that out before selling it and just leave the remaining wiring mess for the buyer to figure out. My son's 87 XJ was a Sheriff's rig before we bought it. it had all kinds of surprises under the dash including a starter push button mounted on the dash.

i am having the same problem only when i hit my brakes the dash lights dim on a litle and the parking lights all come on. when the headlights are on you wouldnt be able to tell anything. but with them off its totally noticeable. i can hear it click when i apply brakes too. so what could this be? i hit a nice rock while offroad but it hit the tire and i got a little air but that would casue anything right? so its very annoying and now my remote starter wont work either. i think maybe it is the brake module. what do yall think? i am getting frustrated
