Default I learned something today.

I was doing maintenance today on my XJ, and after re connecting the battery and trying to start it found that the ignition switch wouldn't engage the starter. so after trying to see where I wasn't getting power, I discovered the starter relay was clicking but there was no power going through the relay to the starter solenoid. I looked on the wire diagram to see where the power source for the relay is located and found it mislabeled on the truck. my starter relay is labeled "htd. rear window" only my XJ doesn't have a rear defroster. I checked the 40 amp fuse and found is was blown. replaced it and everything works as it should.

my XJ has just returned to active duty as a daily driver, and I hate oil leaks, so far this month it's gotten a new radiator, tranny service, ac system service, diff service, plugs, wires, cap & rotor, belt, lube on all zerts. now with the rear main pan gasket I think I can take a break for a while and just drive it...

P.S. I am the only one who works on this thing!!!

Amen to that brother!!! mine site in the garage for over two years with no battery, and on one jackstand(cause of a slow tire leak that I got tired of filling up every month). One day I decided to get her a battery and BOOM she fired right up and with an oil change and quite a few fixes, radiator, and flush kit, oil pressure sensor, de-mudding, drivers side wheel bearing, and general de-rusting, she is back on the road as my DD on her way to being trail worthy again! there is still lots to do, but every weekend worth of work makes me feel that I am getting closer to wheeling again! but this time no mud!!!
