Now that's an awesome idea. Wonder what kind of investment and liability issues would be involved. I could see that being big business. Heck I'd use a place like that for anything needing a lift.

Your obviously not looking out your window and seeing 4 feet of snow with freezing ran falling at the moment are you?
You have no idea how jealous us northerners (Upper states included!!) when ever we drive south or east or far west and see guys like you with a hoist or lift outside in the CARPORT!!!
Carport! There is another waste of money around here. It just means the Snow has somewhere to blow into and build up to 10 feet!

Sorry for the late response, I havent been able to get on much. The manager personally dropped the axle off in his own truck. My neighbor who is a mechanic at a local Jeep/Dodge dealership looked at it, and it did need to be replaced. The locker is still in it, and every part was with it. The biggest issue was bad communication and customer service with the person my wife was working with, but the manager, Mike, restored a lot of faith. I consider the issue resolved.

Your welcome....but I haven't done anything.

I'd really like to take a look at that axle. Don't let this get swept under the rug.

We had a shop very much like that a couple years back. All the rental fees seemed reasonable, but there just wasn't enough interest apparently. It was called AutoBayz and was open less than a year. They hired tech school students to do minor repairs there as well. I got a lot of use out of that place simply using their tire mounting/balancing equipment. Sucks they couldn't make a go of it.

I got scrwed over with an alarms system years ago. A supposed certified reputable shop installed my alarm in my compititon Aerostar, I would have done it myself but no time or place to do it at the time. A couple years later the alarm is acting up, I dig into it to see about patching it till I had more time to put in my new system. I find out that the certified shop wrapped and taped every commection, including the starter kill. Since then I do all my own work on my vehicles unless I know their work and truct them. In car audio it is about 5 people on the country, for mechanical work I cannot do myself. I trust one guy in town.
Shoddy work and poor business practices have been around for along time. I read an article in Readers digest in the mid 80s A master auto tech bought a used olds. made sure that it ran perfect. He went around the nation stopping at shops, after pulling a spark plug wire. only about 5% of the shops found and corrected the simple problem. the others said it was everthing from a new motor to transmission, tune up brakes, etc.

Only time I deal with 4wheel parts is to purchase items or attend there event to get "wish" books.
