Sounds like you're dead set on doing it.... so go ahead, keep us posted on how it goes.

should be able to do it twice as fast the second time when that tub stuff fails and it leaks all over the place.

Didnt want to drive to the store to get a new gasket or at least RTV?

Not a good idea. The heat isn't as much of a factor as the chemical make up of bath tub silicon and it's lack of resistance to oil and gas.

I have used clear silicone in the caulking tube with great success in the past . This was on a diesel engine I might add (turbo drain ).
We use the same above mentioned silicone at work to seal hydraulic tank filter adaptors .

You've already done it so I'm not sure I understand the point of your post. Just trollin'? You obviously know that if bathroom silicone was designed to cure in the presence of oil there would be no need for RTV. It may look fine on the outside but the uncured portion that squeezed out all over inside your valve cover is now floating around in your engine plugging up all the critical oil galleys and pump filter. Have fun with that.

Please, to others reading this, don't do it. Sell your infrared thermometer on craigslist and use the money to buy a gasket and/or a tube of RTV

I hear if you add a cup of Mr. Bubble to the oil your lifter noise goes away.

I am pretty sure sulfuric acid is the best! It will definitely dissolve all dirt inside lifters!
P.S. Don't use bathtub silicon. I am worried that I didn't let it dry before starting engine.

It really cleaned lifters. Do you know how to deal with bubbles going out of tail pipe?
