That has to be one of the weakest superchargers I have ever seen or that is VERY conservative tune. Stock put down 120 and 4.5psi put down 165? That is horrible 45 hp for 4k+ dollars...should have just did a v8 swap...well the 4.0 shows us all that it is still the greatest jeep engine as they see 290 after which is great!

Simply put, unless your idea of going fast is adding 20-50hp, then you really are working with a bad platform to make go fast. Your looking at a vehicle that sits high (although those quick to lift it might say otherwise ) it has low tech suspension, weak brakes, horrible aerodynamics, and a fairly weak after-market support for performance parts.

Now, with that said, if you stop for a minute and understand that it isn't a good platform for racing people, you'll quickly realize the 4.0 is a good motor for daily driving. It's got a good torque curve; it's what makes for a good daily driver, and it's what makes for a reliable power-plant for off-roading.

If you want to make the best with what you have, a stroker kit, cold-air intake, and an exhaust would be good for pretty respectable hp and torque. Some nice shocks, better brakes, and quality tires will go a long way. If you are really determined to rail through corners, or drive like a 'tard you would be wise to lower the vehicle... Truth be told, you might get your butt kicked for that sin though.

Wanting some more power is fine, but making it scream just isn't going to be a wise move on your part. Honestly, Jeffro, look at what you do have, and enjoy it. You've got a capable 4wd that can hold a good amount of people and cargo; and it will look distinctive compared to all of these rounded and smooth looking vehicles.

No just googled cherokee crash. But wanted to show that xj were never very good in crashes. Looks pretty bad I'm sure it had to do something with the semi in the backround.

With a 8.7:1 compression ratio in a 4.0, cheap bolt on mods will not make a speed demon...perfect for a supercharger though.

some simple bolt-on mods will help give it some sack, 2000 intake manifold, larger throttlebody,header, downpipe/exhaust, cai, ignition kit ect
