Idiot light
Hi again all got a problem i figure ill get somthing im guessing ill get an answer that i wontwant to hear, but here is what i got anything you know about this issue will help.
my engine light for oil PSI will come on at random times engine hot or cold. normaly at idle to low rev. I am, running 10w/30 oil and this normaly happens between oil changes at 2000 up to 3000 miles when i change it.
the engine has 195k miles and has no leaks!! and is not burning oil, thats just crazy to me.
my guess is the oil pump is going bad or the berrings are wearing out making the low psi. for when i increase the rpms the lights goes out as it should.
i need to get a actual gauge for this not just that stupid light.
anyone have anything like this with any results?

Without checking the oil pressure proper, I can't really say what the problem is (although it may be prudent to at least check the sensor - it should vary in resistance according to applied pressure, and your FSM should give a chart of values - if not an "upper limit" and a "lower limit.")
Being OBD-II, you should be able to drop in any 1997-2001 IP without any trouble - just check your state's motor vehicle department's website for how to handle odometer discrepancies.

My guess is that your own guesses are right. It is probably showing wear symptoms that are causing the oil pressure to be below normal. I would have a shop check the pressure with an actual gauge, then start diagnosing from there. If the engine does not burn or leak oil or run unusually noisey, this would be a good time to get in there and solve the problem before it becomes a big one.

Fixed
well finaly got under the hood again after buying my new house and i found the problem. the wire harness was pulling tight on the conector to the sending unit. So this caused the light to come on then the wire would pull. when i finally found it one wire was completly broken off all that held to the conector was part of the insolation for the wire. i used what tiny wire in the connector i could salvage and spliced new wires. this will work untill i get to a bone yard to replace the connector. light will stay on when wire is broken and now that its back to normal the light has not showen its face again
still need a actual psi reading mabye ill get some kind of pod set up.
anyone have a aftermarket guage cluster pic?

Either TJ or winston also did a write up on this, maybe they'll chime in with the link sometime today.
