- bezel for the 4x4 shifter with the 242 transfer case.

cheers!
Questions.
What year Jeep do you have and what color is the interior? I know it is a '97 to '01 but.....
Technically the tweeters in '97 and '98 would be Mist Gray. A lighter gray.
'99 to '01 would be Agate. A darker gray.
Unless of of course you have a tan interior. Then '97 and '98 would be Saddle.
But '99 to '01 would still be Agate with the Camel interior.
Unless you don't care.
Pop up on Ebay from time to time but usually not cheap. Thinking $75 minimum.

Plug for the thermostat?
Do you mean the ambient temp sensor? Up front.
Or do you mean the connector it goes into?
Which should already be there.

Bezels for the 242 pop up from time to time to on Ebay. Not as cheap as I think they should be.
Just the bezel or the shifter gate too?
The shifter gates are a little harder to find.

I think it is despite me not being able to find a part number in the parts catalog differentiating between the 2.
Cause I picked up one and installed it. And it looks like it hangs low.
To this day I am not 100% sure I hung it right.
When trying looking at pictures on the internet I could never really find a shot that showed the angle I needed to see the skid at.
Also I picked an aftermarket one pretty cheap.
That the seller said was for a 242.
Now I am OK with it cause one of my goals is to swap out my 231 for a 242.
Seeing how my Jeep is just a DD think having the Fulltime 4X4 option in the snow would be better.
Shot of mine. Sorry for the crappy shot.

thank you for the reply, the jeep at my junkyard has both gas tank side and transfer case skid. Might be worth it to grab both

Thanks for the messages!

the tweeters would be in mist grey. The temp sensor you found has everything I need! I’m looking for both the bezel and the shifter gate.

thanks again!

So I take it you have a Mist Gray interior in a '97 or '98?
Mist Gray tweeters can be tough to find.
I have seen one set on Ebay all the time that I have been stalking it.
I told a friend of mine who has a '97 and he immediately bought them.
While I am pretty sure that the Mist Gray tweeters would be correct for a '97 or '98 I kinda think that Agate ones would not look out of place.
What do you think?
Do you just want Mist Gray ones or would you be open to Agate ones too?
Just want to know so I know exactly what I am keeping an eye out for.

Also the shifter gate for a 242 is also a tougher find.
Then do pop up here and there but not very often.
But I will keep an eye out for it.

So I am going with as far as the stuff for the temp sensor and 242 bezel you are good.
Still looking for the shifter gate and tweeters though.
Again just let me know if you think Agate tweeters would be acceptable.
I will keep my eye out for those things and PM you if I come across them.

So remember when I said that the 242 bezel seems to cost more then I thought it should?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/97-01-Jeep-...Condition=3000

I have seen them up there but this takes the cake. LOL.

LOOKING for a decent accessory part for mine... Anyone know where to source a decent priced, yet good roof rack that attaches to the drip rail? Mine didn't come with the roof mounted rails for the OEM rack, and don't really want to have to drill into the roof for mounting one now if I can keep from it. I don't need to carry super heavy things.
Being able to carry some longer things up top would go a long way wife of not selling the XJ for a truck. Love my XJ too much to get rid of it....

What do you think?
Here's what Agate looks like against Mist Gray. Obviously haven't installed them yet but planning on it I think. I believe there is a mist gray set on Ebay right now, but these Agate ones I have are near mint and don't look too terrible alongside Mist Gray.

Older round tube Yakima's. They go well with the body lines of the XJ and thier stouter than the newer ones imho. They pop up cheap on eBay, OfferUp, FB marketplace and Craigslist.

Yeah... stronger is good... but I'm not chuckin' bags of cement up top... lol
I don't want to over stress the drip rail.... And really don't want to go the route of drilling holes in the roof... even though that might be stronger in the end.

I think they would be fine.
There is darker plastic in the interior of a Mist Gray XJ.
So I think everything will blend together just fine.
Some people would want only the Mist Gray ones.
And I get that.
But I brought it up cause Agate will come up for sale way more often then Mist Gray.

Oh and that set that you think you saw on Ebay that is Mist Gray I am guessing is these:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/97-01-Jeep-Cherokee-XJ-Infinity-Tweeter-Speaker-Set-Mist-Gray-OEM-Very-Rare/193935960200?hash=item2d277be888:gxcAAOSwDJRgQUV u

I was going to PM the guy who was looking for them but I am looking at the pictures thinking that ain't Mist Gray.
But it could just be the lighting.
Sure enough I go down farther on the page. Seller says they are from an '01.
So I never PM'ed the guy cause he never told me if he was open to Agate ones.
Plus that price sucks on top of that.
But just another instance where an Ebay seller really doesn't know what they are selling.

I ever tell you guys the story about how I contacted an Ebay seller and told him I was pretty sure his listing was wrong?
Guy was selling an overhead console listed as '96 and down.
I'm looking at it and know that it is '97 and up.
So just politely contacted the seller telling him I was pretty sure he listed it wrong.
He thanked me for catching that and corrected it.
I told him if I ever make an offer on something you are selling remember me. LOL.
