Inaccurate speedo
Thanks to all your support, I drove 1500 km in 3 days with may 87 wagoneer.
I noticed that the speedo is wrong.
I speak in km/h but it would be the same in miles.
Reading. Real speed (+/-)
70km/h 7km/h
130km/h 130km/h
I used a very unprofessional way to calibrate 130 to 130 on the speedo.
I just moved the needle to the right place. I was expecting it to be linear, so it would be ok on all the range.
But it is not the case.
I then thought it could be because of a bad pinion wheel, changed because of larger tires.
But when I bought the car ot had absolutely normal tires (215/75R15)
did someone had this issue ?
shall i try to buy a new pinion wheel ?
where does it go ?
Thanks
PS : moving the needle isn’t an absolutely bad way. I did it for oil pressure and temperature with success. Together with control from an external pressure control tool and IR thermo.

Hi Cruiser! Always available to help the community
sorry, as you can easily guess, english is a foreign language for me …
yes I talk about the speedo gear tooth
I looked at this video. Seems easy to replace.
But I am pretty sure the one I have is stock, as are my tires.
Before buying one, any other thing to check ?
I noticed that the speedo is very low when engine is stopped. Normal ?

I think there is a black plastic peg for the speedometer needle to stop at, right?
