I believe this, but the stock line was rubber fuel line. What does this mean?

old type carb fuel hose has two issues...

1. Old type fuel hose is low pressure, made for carborators just a few psi
2. Old type fuel hose is not resistant to todays mandated oxygenated fuels.

old type injection hose (SAE 30R7) has one issue...

1. Not resistant to todays new oxygenated fuels, but it can handle the pressure of injection.

The newest lined injection rated hose (SAE 30R9) is nice becuase...

1. it handles the pressure and has an inner Teflon like liner to resist the oxygenated fuels.

Hose with the SAE rating of 30R9 is lined, injection rated, it is the stuff to use. The SAE 30R7 hose is NOT lined.

The SAE rating will be printed on the hose. look for it. Use SAE 30R9!

Also make sure that filter can not flop around, rub on anything. it can get a hole worn thru it from vibratiin if the filter is touching metal, such as laying on the manifold or body parts, so make sure it is secure!

Do not under estimate the capacity for gasoline to find a leak.

European hoses have a different rating scheme, but simular products, i.e. lined, not lined, high pressure, low pressure.

New fangled Injection rated hose is what you need, SAE 30R9.

Note from the photograph provided I see the hose clamps appear to be fully tightened, and still they have not appeared to give enough crush of the hose. I believe your clamps are too big for safe use here. You need the next smaller sized clamp here. Bonus points for selecting the Fuel Injection style with no holes in the clamp band, but the size appears too large. perhaps the clamps you used are sized for 3/8 inch hose (ID) rather than 1/4 inch hose (ID) or such?
Be very careful with this, it sure dont look good to me at all in that photograph.

Yes I have had an engine fire do to a fuel leak, no fun. Fortunately my extinguisher was just big enough, had the extinguisher gone empty 2 seconds sooner, it would have been bye bye car.
