in the middle of installing spacers and was wondering if the spacer just sits on top of the coil or is it supposed to be attached to the body at all?

yup, just slide them up the bumpstop tower in the correct orientation, it should be tight enough to hold up against the rubber isolator on it's own, then just slide the coil up against it and that's it.
it's ok if it's slightly loose, just not like 1/4 inch of play. otherwise those would likely be rear tj spacers.
