Default Interesting find and cam advice

I installed a new cylinder head and new lifters without replacing the cam. When I started the motor it was running rough and I had a loud tapping noise in the number 3 cylinder area. I thought for sure I had damaged the cam so I decided to pull the head off again and replace the camshaft. The lifters had a lot of wear, even with the assembly lube and only running for a short period of time so I dont think I will ever put new lifters on an old cam again. The interesting thing was number 3 cylinder had never fired. So of course Im thinking I just tore the motor apart for no reason and I only had a fuel or spark issue but the tapping noise was too loud to ignore. Also, any cam suggestions, I want to stay stock or close to it. The only cam I can buy locally is Melling and I dont know if they make crap parts.

I am acctually considering buying the comp cam setup its like 180 for the "xtreme" version but I know you were looking for something that is OEM. Titanengines.com has a OEM cam for jeeps that runs like $85 or you could always check ebay.

I was looking at the Comp Cams also, CL68-232-4 but they said I need to change the valve springs.

It would be fun for a day or 2 on the street, after that, it would be miserable on the street (right up there with a spooled rear) and fun only at the track.
