I did my front floor about two years ago and to replace my rear floor last month I had to grind the Herculiner off so I could weld on parts of the front floor pans to join them. Don't get Herculiner on your skin unless you want a black spot for a few weeks.

I have two heavy coats and NO carpet in my trail rig front or rear, and I don't think it matters how many coats. This stuff probably won't dampen sound that well, unless you use Hushmat or something over top of the Herculiner. Two coats in the front have hardly warn at all in my drivers foot well, after two years of wheeling and workboots.
